Organic Bubble Recipe

As a mom, it can be challenging to avoid plastic especially when you have a toddler. You can easily start to go crazy just thinking about all the plastic used to package toys and then the toys themselves! On the upside, I've been seeing some eco friendly toy options like Green Toys which are packaged in cardboard and made with 100% recycled plastic milk containers!

An easy and fun way to cut back on plastic consumption is making your own bubbles at home because let's be honest what kid doesn't like bubbles. As parents, our time can be limited, for this reason, I recommend the Crazy Deluxe Bubbles Recipe from Marybeth at babysavers. In a few short minutes, you can have your own eco friendly bubbles!

What you will need

Now all you have to do is gently stir all the ingredients together in an airtight container like a mason jar or you can upcycle a jar.

How long will my DIY bubbles last?

If your child is anything like my daughter probably about a week! Nothing to worry about if they last longer, most bubbles get better age. You will only need to gently swirl the ingredients together if they have sat for more than a couple weeks - don't shake the container.

If you're in a pinch you can make bubbles with just water and dish soap. For that recipe, you only need 1 cup of warm water and 1 tablespoon of organic dish soap. Gently stir the warm water and organic dish soap in an airtight container and you're all set to start blowing bubbles. The glycerin and sugar make a big difference when making homemade bubbles so I recommend using those ingredients.

While DYI bubbles aren't entirely plastic-free it is significantly less waste then if you purchase them. It's also cheaper to make them yourself and who doesn't like to save money!

Best,

Cheryl
